HotShot Electronic Initiation System
Components
HotShot Electronic Detonators
- HotShot detonator
- Downline and inter-hole wire
- Male connector
- Female connector
When connecting a blast pattern using HotShot detonators,
the HotShot units are connected in the order of firing
along a row of holes. The connections are simple; the
male connector of one detonator simply snaps into the
female connector of the next, and so on, along a row.
HotShot Tagger
The HotShot Tagger is a powerful
and blaster-friendly hand-held device that is used
to:
- Test individual HotShot detonators
- Test strings of
detonators
- Test and troubleshoot the entire installation
- Define
hole configuration
- Design the blast, which involves
assigning constant
delays between boreholes and individual delays
between rows, as well
as closed chevron
stagger delays.
The HotShot Tagger, together with the Blast Cradle and
the Blast Key, enables initiation of the blast from a
point of safety.
Easy-to-follow Tagger screen menus
lead the blaster through all on-bench and firing operations.
HotShot Blast Cradle
The HotShot Blast Cradle is used in
conjunction with the Tagger and a Blast Key to initiate
the blast.
The
Blast Cradle connects to the bench via a 2-wire connection
from the outputs of the docked Tagger to the
Bench Controller(s) on the blast. In addition, the Blast
Cradle is used to charge the Tagger.
HotShot Blast Key
The HotShot Blast Key must be docked
in the Blast Cradle for the blast to be armed and fired.
The
Blast Key houses the electronic components required
to
generate the blasting voltage and encoded firing signals during the initiation
of the blast. For security purposes, Blast Keys are password protected.
The
Blast Key incorporates the ARM button (needed to arm the system before
blasting) as well as the two FIRE
buttons required to fire the blast.
HotShot Bench Controller
The HotShot Bench Controller is
placed between the connected blast and the control
equipment (Blast Cradle). It interfaces 2-wire communication
to 4-wire
communication.
HotShot Row Controller
The HotShot Row Controller connects
rows and indicates the inclusion of a row to the control
equipment.
HotShot Branch Controller
The HotShot Branch Controller is
used to deal with out-of-pattern holes.
HotShot End Plug
The HotShot End Plug
is placed into all open connectors and indicates
the boundaries
of the blast to the control equipment
