HotShot demolition triumph in Glasgow

At 2.30 am on the 13th July 2008 two 19-storey tower blocks were demolished in the Sighthill area of Glasgow in the UK with a combination of HotShot and shock-tube detonators in what is believed to be the first high-rise demolition undertaken with the Hotshot system.

The latest conversion of a mine to the HotShot electronic initiation system
in Australia

On the 25th of July 2006 Mark Shannon from Sally Malay Underground Nickel Mine in Western Australia was successfully trained and passed out on the system.

HotShot at Muswellbrook Coal

A HotShot(tm) blast was conducted on the 5th of April 2006 at Muswellbrook Coal Mine. This shot was located in Muswellbrook Open Cut #1 in the overburden above the Lewis Coal Seam. The aim was to conduct a bigger than normal size blast and to collapse overburden into the underground galleries within the Lewis coal seam to allow safe mining of the overburden to proceed. On top of this it was a requirement to keep vibration and air blast within acceptable levels. The blasting in this area was considered "hot" ground. MCC considers "hot" ground as between 50 C & 70 C, no holes over 70 C were charged.

Largest HotShot Blast Taken Yet!

On the 15th of August the largest blast with the HotShot initiation system was fired with great success. The blast was managed by AEL's Jason Pitchford and his team with DetNet's Werner Moeller and AEL's Sean Rodger overseeing the HotShot deployment. A total of 515 HotShot electronic detonators fired 35 tonnes of explosives.
